PhotoVoice is a participatory research method that uses photography to tell real stories. It gives people the chance to document their lives and share their perspectives – showing how they experience and navigate their world. As part of the Governing the Just Urban Transition (GoJUT) project, 30 small business owners from Khayelitsha, Cape Town and Setswetla, Johannesburg, took photographs showing how their businesses access – and struggle to access – water and energy.
