PUG represented at the 2025 International Geographical Union Conference

Dr Christina Culwick Fatti was a speaker at the 2025 IGU Urban Commission Annual Conference held in Stellenbosch, South Africa, from August 11th to 15th. The conference, themed “Cities and Urban Systems in Transition: Transformations, Resilience, and Policy,” brought together leading experts to discuss the dynamic challenges and transformations within urban environments globally. Dr. Culwick Fatti contributed to the session on “Urban communities in action,” specifically on Governing the Just Urban Transition, where she explored themes central to urban governance and the just transition of cities. This event highlighted critical issues such as urban resilience, social sustainability, and community-led governance, underscoring the role of inclusive policies in shaping equitable urban futures. Her participation reinforced the conference’s commitment to fostering knowledge exchange on political and governance dimensions critical to urban development and social justice.
