2023 Rights workshop IWA NSS Conference

The Container Based Sanitation Alliance (CBSA), the University of the Western Cape and the Water Research Commission convened a workshop on the role of container-based sanitation (CBS) in supporting the human right to sanitation for residents living in informal settlements. The workshop was held on 16 October 2023, as part of the 1st IWA Non-Sewered Sanitation Conference in South Africa. The workshop report highlights some of the key messages from the workshop. It also includes recommendations for municipalities, regulators, researchers, operators and CBSA to support the development and scaling of CBS services.
